Jewish Private Dining
As you probably know Jewish cuisine is still determined by a large number of religious regulations which makes this world even more fabulous for us. My relationship with Jewish people and culture started more than 10 years ago when I got to know my husband. I met him and became part of a modern Jewish family. The main figure of the family is the grandmother whose love for life, attitude and modern way of thinking is an example for me to follow. It was her who taught me the following dishes and I am really grateful to her for introducing me the secrets of Jewish cuisine.
Come and taste the great recipes of Jewish cuisine and join a multi-religious group. Learn about the history of Central European Jews as well as about the bustling Jewish life in Budapest.
It is similar to a family dinner: common meals, chatting and friendly atmosphere. This is a two-and-a half-hour program with authentic Jewish 4-course menu at a private place where you can meet guests from other countries at my dining table and you can make new friends.
What it includes:
- an unique 4-course dinner (starter, soup, main course, dessert) ,
- homemade Jewish dishes by family recipes,
- home-style flavours,
- drinks (plum palinka, Hungarian wine, homemade soft drink, mineral water, coffee, tea),
- a really special gastro-touristic program in my private flat,
- two-and-a half-hour private dining program with a lot of interesting stories and information about Jewish food, customs and life,
- a historical place in the Jewish Quarter (7th District in Budapest)
Jewish 4-course Menu (not kosher)
This matchless dinner includes one of the most famous Jewish starters, soups, main courses and desserts. Among the dishes there is the Jewish egg paté with Challah, Meat soup with Matzo balls, Roasted goose leg, Flodni and so on.
When I compose the menu, I keep 3 things in mind:
- the variety of dishes have to be harmonized with each other and form a unified whole, so please, trust me and I make the best combination for you.
- considering my guests’ eventual requirements, it is about a preferred food or special occasion or food intolerances,
- I would like to share the magical world of Jewish cuisine with you.
When I prepare for this unique dinner, I use family recipes from my husband’s grandma and I combine these traditional recipes with the new kitchen methods. I certainly prefer fresh, local and homemade ingredients.
I do not have portions like restaurants do. You can always ask for more (I am happy to refill your glass and put some more on your plate).
No problem if you are vegetarian or you have any food allergies. Please, let me know this when you register on my dinner and we will change the menu according to your needs.
The Kitchen Pixie Budapest is open every day and my dinner starts at 6pm and finishes at about 8.30pm. Every dinner needs organizing, so please, you are kindly requested to register in advence. If you have any question about the dinner, booking and details, please do not hesitate to write for me. I am happy to hear for you.
Price: 35 € /person (if you are a group, over 6 people I can offer 5 € discount off the price for every further person.)
