Creamy Potatoe soup with sausage in a nice grey plate

Creamy Potato Soup with Smoked Sausage

It is a typical winter soup in Hungary. This soup is very easy to make but it is very tasty and substantial. As paprika is used as its main spice you can even make it hot. If you add some drops of vinegar before eating it you can make it quite piquant. Without sausages ideal for vegetarians, too.

Main ingredients: pork sausage, dairy product, potato, onion, paprika.

great and tasty stuffed cabbage with sour cream in a green plate

Stuffed Cabbage

I know it is a typical winter dish but I can eat this all year because it is so fine. It was the favourite dish of King Matthias (1443-1490), the favourite Hungarian king, who also has the nickname ‘Matthias, the Fair King’.

The filling is made from ground pork, rice, garlic, eggs, red paprika, pepper and salt and we fill this material into sour cabbage leaves. Stuffed cabbage is one of the most famous Hungarian dishes, which is tasted even by those tourists who do not look for kitchen specialities. If you choose this menu, we make together and at end of the cooking you can enjoy the result of your efforts.

Main ingredients: pork meat, onion, sauerkraut, dairy droduct.

Poppy Seed Bread Dumplings with Vanilla pudding

Poppy Seed Bread Pudding

This is a popular Hungarian dessert. Originally it was part of the Christmas menu and plentiful poppy seeds were supposed to bring good luck, a lot of money in the new year. As it is a very popular dessert, it is made all the year. Nowadays it is usually made from drying, water bread-rolls. The rolls are cut up into slices and vanilla sugar or real vanilla flavoured hot milk is poured on top. The bread-rolls drink up the milk and then you put the sugary poppy-seed and it is immediately served or can even be shortly baked before serving.

Main ingredients: flour, poppy-seed, sugar, egg, dairy product.
