What a lovely day…

What a lovely day we had with you in Budapest, it was a true Taste of Hungary. Both Kate and I loved our experience in the market full of delicious smells and visions of colour and bustle, then to be able to go home with you to your delightful apartment and prepare all the purchases. Your kitchen was so well arranged and you were so well prepared that the whole experience was seamless, and it was a joy to have you share your talents. We both learned a lot. And finally to sit down and eat all the delicious flavours that you helped us pull together. It was such a scrumptious! The biggest bonus was meeting you - your warmth and friendliness was endearing, and being able to spend time in a very delightful Hungarian home gave us such a feeling of being part of the Hungarian way of life. - Freya & Kate from Lewes, UK

Excellent courses

We were on our europe trip through multiple countries this summer and Budapest was on of the cities. We've been in Budapest before and wanted to learn how to cook Hungarian Langos. So we were looking for places where we could learn that and Kitchen Pixie was the one we picked. Marti from Kitchen Pixie met us, told us a lot of interesting stories and tought us how to cook Langos. That was an excellent experience and we are really happy that picked this course. Thank you Marti for your lesson, great time spent on the kitchen, we wish you much happinies, luck, love, new courses and all the best! One day we'll be back in Budapest and hopefully will get to meet again!   - Alex & Anne from Moscow, Russia

Simply delightful

This class was the highlight of our visit to Budapest! Marti was so gracious and obviously enjoyed sharing her culinary skills with us. We prepared Menu D (chicken ragout with tarragon, stuffed sweet peppers with tomato sauce, and two kinds of strudel ( sweet cabbage , cottage cheese/sour cherries)). Everything was delicious. Marti was also very wiling to share the history of her country and the background to her opening this culinary business. The flat where we cooked (downtown Budapest) was designed by Marti and was part of an open court building built in 1910 - beautiful! We would highly recommend this class - a unique option when in Budapest. We would do it again!   - Phill & Donna from Minnesota, US

A fantastic (and delicious) experience!

My mother, sister and I spent a few days in Budapest during a tour of East Central Europe and on one of those days, we booked the market tour and cooking lesson with Marti at Kitchen Pixie. Marti was very responsive over email during the process of figuring out logistics, and she sent me a photo of herself and of the market where we would be meeting in the morning, which was really helpful! At the market -- which is a great place to visit, even if you're not going to be cooking -- not only did we purchase ingredients for the meal we were going to cook, but Marti also took us to a couple of places to try some tasty local delicacies -- pickled baby watermelon and langos (what's not to love about deep-fried dough?) -- and taught us all kinds of interesting things about Hungarian culinary traditions (Hungarians really *do* use a ton of paprika, and it's delicious!). After shopping, Marti took us to the beautiful flat that she has outfitted with a wonderful kitchen and dining space, treated us to homemade beverages and snacks, and then we started cooking. Marti is a very good teacher - patient, providing clear instructions and demonstrations, and sharing tips and tricks for things that someone new to Hungarian cooking would only learn the hard way. She is also very friendly and personable - she put us all at ease right away, and it was a delight to spend the day with her. And she's spectacularly well-organized: she staged the food so that the timing was perfect - we were eating the soup while the cabbage rolls finished cooking, and the poppyseed bread pudding was baked and warming in the oven when it was time for dessert. Of course, everything was delicious! All three of us had such a great and memorable day. - Margarita from Palo Alto, US

Delightful meal hosted by a talented chef

Trying to find something a little different in a new city, I discovered Kitchen Pixie, owned by local Marti. We arrived to her apartment that is used for the kitchen and dining, so it was a treat to see what a true Budapest apartment would look like. She has a fabulous kitchen set up with a large island for cooking classes and demonstrations. My friends and I chose her full dinner and it was delicious. She served a variety of local dishes and beverages that we enjoyed. One member of our group has dietary restrictions and Marti made some dishes that she could eat, as well. We can't say enough good things about the experience!   - Ginger & her friends from Indianapolis, US
